Knights of Columbus

Father Lacombe Council #8969 of the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS serves the St. Stephen Catholic Community. Our Council is growing with approximately 73 members.

Membership is open to any practicing Catholic man who is in union with the Holy See and who is at least 18 years of age. The Knights are a great opportunity to get together with other men in the parish, form new friendships, share family experiences and deepen our faith. We volunteer our time and talents for the good of the parish as the Spirit moves us. Your time commitment is totally voluntary.

Our Knight’s in Action:

Fish Fry-days during Lent

Our annual Fish Fry-days  during Lent were once again very successful! Not only did raise money for the church mortgage fund, but provided meals for the community, and enjoyed great fellowship as we cooked, served and cleaned. If you are interested in joining us next year, don’t hesitate to contact our Grand Knight Jacob. It is a lot of fun, guaranteed!

Knight of the Year 2023-24

At our July wind-up, Brother Mike Marien was named the 2023-24 Knight of the Year.

Mike has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for the past forty years working with the Lacombe Council on various Community projects. He really enjoys being involved in our Fish Fry suppers completed over the Lenten season. He is currently the Faith Director and takes on the responsibility for all faith-based council programs. Mike also leads the Council in their faith-based studies. He also is the coordinator for adult faith formation at St. Stephen. Congratulations Mike!

Past Grand Knight Dwayne Berlando presenting the award to Mike at our July wind-up

Every year, the Grand Knight also makes a second selection of his own choosing. This year GK Dwayne presented the award tp Doug Weinkauf. Doug’s dedication to our council is outstanding, and he went above beyond this year at the Ponoka Stampede, coordinating our council members in driving shuttles and provide security. Thanks so much Brother Doug for your tireless efforts and support!
